When is the best time to go to Brazil?

The best time to go to Brazil depends on the chosen destination, due to the fact that Brazil can be visited all year round. In the northern countries, the rains makes the roads impassable throughout the Amazon and the rising rivers turns the Iguaçu Falls into an even more spectacular view. On the south coast of Brazil, the beautiful beaches of Copacabana are comfortable almost throughout the entire year. Summer is indeed a peak tourist season in Brazil. The natives and tourists enjoy the clemency of nature with the combination of party. If one likes to mix with the cheering crowd during the carnival period, book in advance and plan your stay in order to be in the first lodge, to attend and participate in the activities and shows; why not?

For those who like to travel during the off season, the period from June to October is a good time to take a trip to the Amazon jungle and engage in animal observation. Moderate rains leave more room for sunny days.

Climate and Weather in Brazil

Located, among others, between Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Bolivia and Paraguay, Brazil is so vast that it also faces so many climates, depending on the location of the specific region. In addition, for countries in the southern hemisphere, the seasons are reversed in comparison to France. Brazil's climate is however fairly similar to its various closest neighbors. In general, there is mild weather throughout the year, with temperatures that vary greatly.

Brazil: Plage de Copacabana à Rio de Janeiro

Climate in the Rio de Janeiro Region

Around Rio de Janeiro, summer is often quite humid, despite the high temperatures. In general, most of the rain falls between October and January. Winter, to continue with the same weather, alternates generally between rainy and sunny days, with fairly mild temperatures.

Climate in the Northeast

Located on the tip of Brazil just off the east coast, the Northeast is a beautiful area close to the equator, where the heat can sometimes be particularly heavy - especially between the months of December and March. The presence of frequent but relatively brief showers fortunately alleviates the suffocating feeling. It is important to note that the Sertao region is known for particularly severe droughts. The northeast has never faced the cold or torrential downpours. On the coast, the air is pleasant thanks to the low humidity and gentle tropical breezes.

Climate in Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul Pantanal in Brazil

During the time of the austral summer, this region of Brazil - where lays the city of Cuiaba, reputed to be one of the hottest in the country - faces a season of very high rainfall. Due to the magnitude of this Brazilian region, there is a great diversity in climate. Thus, the Pantanal is a largely flooded area. The rainy season, very present between the months of October and March floods some of the rivers. In Mato Grosso do Sul, one sometimes experiences high temperatures that eventually decrease when winter arrives.

Climate in the Brazilian Amazon

The Amazon experiences a climate that resembles a tropical one. This region is indeed hot, humid and particularly rainy. This is in fact the wettest region of the entire planet. The rainy season here extends from December to June, with daily rainfall also between April and May. The dry season is, for its part, between July and November, with temperatures that can sometimes become particularly high. The rain continues to fall throughout this period, but the showers are generally quite short.

Climate in Southern Brazil

Brazil's climate becomes more temperate as we move down towards the south. As soon as ones passes the Tropic of Capricorn, the country reveals four distinct seasons. The coast itself has a climate close to that of the mediterranean climates, with mild winters and hot summers. In the extreme south however, the presence of harsh winters is possible, as seen in Porto Alegre.

The Climate in Minas Gerais

Near Rio de Janeiro, the Minas Gerais region - where one especially finds the city of Belo Horizonte - offers a temperate climate with distinct seasons, which approach the climates in the south. Be careful however, as in the winter the evenings can be very cool.
